Leslie has been riding horses from the age of 4. She has always loved horses, when she was a child and played in the yard she cantered everywhere instead of running. Horses are inside of her and have been for all of her life.
Leslie has ridden and competed in many different disciplines including dressage, hunt-seat equitation, hunter jumpers, western, saddleseat, and driving. Leslie was an active member of 4-H and Pony club as a child. She also has experience with many different breeds of horses from Morgan to mustangs. At 14 Leslie was schooling and training local horses for show and pleasure riding.
At age 24 leaving behind family friends and customers, Leslie headed out west to follow her life long dream of becoming a cowgirl. She worked on different cattle and horse ranches from Wyoming to California. Under the mentoring of some great horseman Leslie began her journey of learning the fine art of natural horsemanship, colt starting and horse phsycologyscollogy.
Through psychology of horses she has helped many horses with human problems and many humans reach a higher level of confidence and ability. Helping better horse human relationships is one of the many aspects that make Leslie and s bar horsemanship unique.
Leslie is passionate about every little detail of horsemanship weather it colt-starting from the ground up, working with a “problem” horse or helping someone become more confident about ground work, riding or just being around horses.
Leslie enjoys spending time with her horse “Ginger” who is a 15 year old Morgan mare, who came to her as a problem horse. “ I use to pray for patients and then God sent me Ginger” says Leslie. Ginger and Leslie play at liberty on the ground and mounted now. They also go on trail rides and do Natural horsemanship demonstrations.
“Natural Horsemanship to me is about the relationship, a relationship built on respect, trust and communication” LM
Leslie is always challenging herself to be softer, clearer, and more understanding. She is constantly reading books by authors such as Mark Rashid, and Kathleen Lindley. As well as watching informational DVDs from all the great horsemanship programs out there. Leslie also audits and rides in clinics all over the country. Always striving to be the kind of horseman her horse wants her to be.
“I am proud to be a part of the revolution for better horsemanship ” LM
