At S Bar Horsemanship we believe in a good foundation and understanding for all of our horses and students. Whether you are looking to have a colt started or an older horse restarted, we take the time to help build a solid foundation of trust and respect.

We start all of our horses in the round corral and on the ground following Universal Horsemanship methods. Universal Horsemanship is natural horsemanship, communication through feel, timing and preparation. Everything that a horse is expected to do with a rider must first be accomplished on the ground. A horse needs to learn to move away from pressure, and to give physically and emotionally. When this is achieved it is called softness. All of this is done the ground and in the round corral before it is ever attempted with a rider.

Softness is key to a safe rewarding relationship with your horse. In order to have softness you must have trust and respect. Some horses, like people, trust easier, and some take much longer. We let the horse tell us how much time he or she needs. Nothing is ever rushed at S Bar Horsemanship, not horse, not human. We take as much time as needed for each individual.
